Our story

Open to everyone, since 2012

Urban Cafe has been on the first floor of the Strauss Daly Building since 2012. We're tucked inside Ridgeside Office Park, but we're not just for the offices. Our doors are open to everyone: neighbours, visitors to Umhlanga and anyone passing through.

Come up for a coffee catch-up with friends, a smoothie after the gym or a moms' group morning. Book in a quiet one-on-one business meeting, or settle in for a few focused hours on your laptop with free fibre Wi-Fi. Pull up a cane chair under the palm-leaf ceiling and look out over the sea towards Durban.

Everything is made when you order it. Our coffee is made with 100% Arabica beans, medium to dark roasted with flavours of chocolate, nuts and citrus. Our muffins are baked fresh every day, and the menu runs from Sunrise Oats to a Durban Curry Bowl. With free parking downstairs and no mall traffic, it's the easy choice.

Yes. Although we're inside Ridgeside Office Park, Urban Cafe is open to everyone: locals, visitors, gym-goers, moms' groups and anyone after good coffee, with free parking downstairs.

What are Urban Cafe's opening hours?

Monday to Friday, 7am to 4:00pm. We're closed on weekends and public holidays.
